Prof. Ceder receives 2023 William Hume-Rothery Award

Last month, Professor Gerbrand Ceder received the William Hume-Rothery Award from The Minerals, Metals, & Materials Society (TMS). This award honors the memory of the great pioneer in alloy phases, William Hume-Rothery, and recognizes a scientific leader for an exceptional and sustained record of scholarly contributions to the science of alloys. To receive the award, Professor Ceder was invited to be an honored presenter at the William Hume-Rothery Memorial Symposium, which was held in conjunction with the TMS 2023 Annual Meeting. At the symposium, he gave a lecture titled “Ab Initio Thermodynamics and Kinetics from Alloys to Complex Oxides.” He was awarded this honor for his “seminal contributions to theory and predictive computational methods for complex multicomponent alloys and ceramic solid solutions, and pioneering advances for ab-initio materials design.” Full details of the award can be found here.

Congratulations, Professor Ceder!
